Retro Riverside 5th wheel

We saw a 5th wheel made by Riverside Retro. It looks very nice but I saw several posts about poor quality. These posts were all 3-4 years old. As anyone heard if the qualty issues been corrected and what type of quality trailer are they making now?

Marketing.....when they push them out the door to the storage lots they'll be drenched with water again and again. Its just a picture on a website, and would be a real dumb way to test for leaks during or after production. Just like Forest Rivers dedicated pre delivery inspection facility advertised as 20000 sf of quality assurance. Not even 1% of units produced ever sees the place.

Hate to tell you but I don't think anything is "worry free" where RVs are concerned.

Have looked all around the web and have seen a lot of older posts where quality issues seemed pretty rampant with Riverside Retro. I really liked the 5ver with the rear kitchen BUT can't see ANY feedback on this 5ver anywhere. The Riverside Owners Forum is pretty useless (I did ask there and no one responded). One other fella also had asked about quality for the 5ver and no one responded. This is a new RV maker so some initial quality issues are to be expected but they have been around a few years now and I suspect things may have improved some. I also didn't like the 14" tires on the rig... feel uncomfortable about their load carrying capacity. Most initial issues I noted were plumbing and sealing (most everything from roof to windows).

They're not exactly a new manufacturer. They rolled out their first in 2009. The stick and tin 5th wheel models, and their laminated line of trailers, is new. A few years back they claimed they only made stick and tin because they were better and more or less said laminated was junk, even to the point of having a webpage as to why. But alas they now make a laminated trailer and the webpage listing why they are bad is gone.

They're small and independent, and will probably be one of the first to shutter the factory come the next downturn.

Where did you see the 3-4 year old - "several posts"?

Out of curiosity (never heard of a Riverside Retro) - I tried a search in the Archives here for posts older than the last 12 months. Zero.

And - Yes, there are a few (current) posts - but nothing really very relevant.

I suspect it was on forums on the internet other than this one.

  • A local RV dealer carried Riverside units for a little less than 2 years. He became fed up with the amount of issues units came with from the factory, and claimed warranty claims were triple the amount compared to the Forest River and Heartland brands he also carried.

I looked at his Riverside selection at the time, and they were bad.
  • Can't speak to the quality or reliability, but you might be able to ask your questions on their forum. Here is a link Riverside retro
