Roof problems

Mine was 5 months old when the roof finally de-bonded enough to tear itself on the AC.. I've had two independents look at it: "new roof". Dealer says the same thing. Waiting on an approval from Keystone, then we have to make sure that the dealer is capable of a "like new" repair.

I'm seeing some of these repaired out of warranty when the dealer is willing to go to bat for the owner and indicate that it's not a lack of maintenance issue..

Sounds like the dealer is the main issue here rather than Keystone, since "they refused to turn it in as a warranty claim when I requested they do so" as the OP states in his post.

The roof on my 2014 Keystone Laredo 292RL pulled loose from the trim that holds it down in front. Doesn't look like it will be covered by warranty - we're just outside of a year on the original warranty. The local yokel service center "fixed" it by creating a larger mess to deal with, so I'm there with dicor working on things myself. So I'm wondering...is it just my luck? Is it Keystone? Is it something that could have been prevented if I had a 5th wheel with both a front end and rear end cap to help stabilize torque on the rig? Would a different manufacturer be more likely to fix this problem if it was their product?

I'd add a photo so you can see what I'm working with (pre-service center ****) but I can't figure out how to attach an image.

Contact Keystone for warrenty repairs. They really have to fix it or have someone else to fix it. Let us know if they don't fix it.

Just looking,I would do what everyone else said about removing old seal and revealing but then I would get another piece of trim and seal and screw that down on the edge.

I can tell you that on my unit they are definitely glued down. And talking to Alpha Systems (they provide TPO to Keystone) that they indicate that they are glued via adhesion and subsequent pressure.

Without glue, the low pressure created when driving will cause them to come up.

I believe the roof membrane is NOT glued down at all. That is why there are so many air bubbles in our units. I think they are held down by the trim piece on all sides. So if the membrane is too short and pulls out from the front, you get what is shown in the picture.

FYI - having roof adhesion problems on a 2015 Keystone. The front 1/3 has basically come loose. Caught it before it could come unsealed from the cap, but appears to be due to lack of glue or lack of pressure when the roof was applied. Material is TPO.

The subsequent roof bubble cut the roof on the front ac frame.

The photo I posted is of the damage before the service center "repaired" it. I'll post a photo of what they did this evening. I've been reworking it and using dicor to basically do the job they should have done in the first place on this "repair". They refused to turn it in as a warranty claim when I requested they do so, and then they pushed that it was clearly an insurance claim and I need a whole new roof. We have a week long vacation planned pretty soon and I don't want this thing in the shop because then I'll never get it back in time to get on the road. In the meantime, after reading the comments above, I will put together an email to Keystone customer service telling them my story and sharing photos. At this point, because of the "repair" work, I doubt they'll do anything. But at least I will have tried....

I've seen some new units where the roof is applied first then tucked under the end caps which are installed after the rubber roof goes on. Looks to me like the rubber is too short also.
