Route-1 Low Clearance database

Depending on which Co-pilot you buy or download, it does have height settings for bridges. We use the trucker version with the 13'6 height and the 65' length parameters set. So far it has kept us on good roads. The only issue I see with it, is if the campground is on secondary county roads the CoPilot database may not accept the address. But it will accept a pindrop or GPS location.

yep.. we ran into that as we passed thru Ontario Canada from Buffalo to Detroit a couple weeks ago.. Waze cut out on us just when we needed it most.

I had forgotten about the need for an international plan adjustment to our phone service. ATT added it on the fly, but we lost an hour due to a wrong turn and the recovery. Hauling the FW made it oh so much more enjoyable. Always happens when the DW is driving! Sadly she is a magnet for bad things to happen.

We went to the truck Nav which has a 3yr yr old database, and it got us the rest of the way.

In looking at Co-Pilot, reviews are all over the place. It either works, or it crashes, especially the newer releases. Am I just hosed to buying another GPS that will take the Route-1 d.b.? I'd really like an app or GPS that will recalc a route based on the clearances...

OK, so =some= GPS units do have the capability to take a height and route you around low clearances? This Nuvi was given to me, with lifetime updates, so I'm not anxious to spend more money on another GPS. :-) I'm just looking at the huge d.b. that Route-1 shows, compared to others as it's that one that doesn't show up that'll getcha. Do you have to get the Trucker version of Co-Pilot to get the ability to enter heights?

No the regular version of co pilot has Rv routing based on height as an option. The maps install on the phone and use the phones gps chip - no data connection needed. I'm pretty sure trucker path pro doesn't have maps and is using apple or google maps so it would need a data connection. It is a popular misconception that all smartphone apps need a data connection. Many do not such as copilot, garmin North America and others.

Ah! Wasn't sure that phones had actual GPS in them, except for very high-end models. I know that a lot of phones use cell tower triangulation as a substitute. Looks like my LG has a GPS, so I'll look into that. I still like the fact that Route-1 has so many more datapoints than other apps seem to have...

We use the Trucker's Atlas to tell us of low clearances in addition to the Delorme Street Atlas. The POI for it for low clearances is incomplete but still has important information.

It is not turned on by default, there is an icon in the lower right hand of the screen (looks like a location icon with a check mark in the middle), from there you can turn off/on different things to appear on the map...one of which is "Clearances".

Great looking app...will give it a try on my next trip!

I just downloaded the TruckerPath app and it is really neat. However, I don't see where it mentions low clearances.

We use the Trucker's Atlas to tell us of low clearances in addition to the Delorme Street Atlas. The POI for it for low clearances is incomplete but still has important information.

I use TruckerPath on my phone to validate that the route is the same as my nav app.
