Rubber rain gutter spouts ideas

Hi,

My weekend warrior went through a frame overhaul last year and the repair guy did a great job on everything. I was amazed that he added rain gutter spouts to the four corners as part of the roof service.

The dilemma I have currently, is the cover I use is so dang heavy duty and heavy that it is going to destroy these nice to haves.

I have been looking at several products and they just don't seem like they'll work. The problem lies in the sheer weight of the cover and the spouts are on every corner.

What are some ideas you all have used with success?

Thanks
Joe
  • Joe I don't know if this would work, but in the storage area of my RV I saw a guy with about an 8.5' or so 2x4 that was laying across the roof, right near the corners. I didn't get why until I asked him, same reason as you pointed out - the cover would bend and break off his rain gutter spouts. What I saw was the 2x4 had rounded corners and was covered with something, maybe duct tape.

Now we live in the desert but he'd moved here from Oregon so it made sense. But I did warn him that due to our high winds it might not work out. He must have moved or sold it since I haven't seen him in a few years, but well there is any idea that I've seen.
  • Thank you for the reply. I too thought of this and I am not sure if it will backfire with the wind we get in SoCal. I am trying to brainstorm ad googling like crazy but some of the ideas are great but not long lasting IMO.

    Thanks
    Joe
  • I can see the wind being an issue, either tearing the cover or dislodging the 2x4. What about one of those insulating faucet covers? I'm not sure if the "hook" could wrap around the gutter in anyway where it might stay up.
