When we stayed a week in Disney World a few years ago, we didn't get the food plan for the 3 of us (DH, GD & me, but our DS & DIL did for their family. There were too many to choose from and we had no idea when and where we'd be each day and it was too hard to keep track.
We ate most of our meals at our All-Star Resort cafeteria, but enjoyed the flexibility of eating at outside the park when visiting Universal & other places outside of Disney. We even got my BIL (a Disney employee) to pick up breakfast tab at one of the Resorts. And of course, we prepaid for Cinderella's Castle Lunch when we made reservations.
