The furnace mfg's recommend that non obstructed air flow is necessary and any vent that is block limits that air flow. That is the reason RV manufacturers do not use vents that are closeable.
Most furnaces in RV's have a low air flow switch that will not allow the furnace to light unless there is adequate air flow. I discovered this when a furnace in an RV I had failed to light because this switch went bad.
