Rusted wheel rims ?

Hello,

Have some rust spots on my 5th wheel rims. I really don't want to paint them so have been thinking of some sort of "Snap in place" decorative wheel covers that would look nice and stay put in place. Has anyone used these? If so how did they work out and where are they available?

Thanks for any help.
  • I like the snap on idea. There is a big pothole in the interstate about 3 miles from my house and those snap on hubcaps dot the landscape all around it. Maybe I will go shoulder-shopping and pick up a set for free :)
  • I now have snap in wheel covers on our Mountaineer, two of the plastic factory center cap covers flew off while traveling and were too expensive to replace IMO.Snap in covers were a quick & easy fix.

I bought the new covers at Walmart... 16" wheel size and they look ok,a spoke mag wheel design. The covers have been on for over five years and fit nice and tight, used my hand to knock them in the wheel lip.The price was around $18.00 for a set of four.

On our previous TT I repainted the white spoke wheels due to severe rust from many nights of ocean front camping.Looking back it would have been quicker and looked better with snap in covers.
  • Use Coca Cola, I have seen it done on you tube... and please let us know if it really works.
  • I tried some wheel covers years ago and they lasted about 2 miles. Look at all the cheap wheel covers you see lying next to the road. Just paint the wheels and be done with it..
