I think it is simply because it is a new concept by a major manufacturer, a 5er with a front kitchen and a front window. If it sells, others will follow.
The front living plan is probably one of the most popular plans now. People buy it because it really grabs them when they first walk in, practical or not. The front living means even more up/down than a front kitchen. But once one manufacturer produced one, and it began to sell, the others followed.
But everyone has their own preferences, likes and dislikes. That is why there are so many floorplans to choose from. To each their own.
