rv storage in south

I would like to find the right place to store my 5th wheel somewhere on the road to florida. My plan is to haul it from ny in the fall and then retrieve it later during the winter when we decide to go south. Can anyone give me some info and/or their opinion as to whether this is a good idea? thanks
  • Some RV parks have storage as well. I know some parks will set the camper up on site where all you have to do is drive down and use it.
  • I guess if my 5er wasn't where I could use it near home I may as well have it where I want it to be when I got there. Eliminate the whole towing thing, or 98% of it anyway. If you go to the same place in FL every time look for storage in Florida. Dealers and large CGs tend to offer more choices at cheaper rates.
  • go4redoak,

We have our 5th wheel at a secure storage site at Exit 29 Self Storage and Mobile Storage in Brunswick, GA. It is a mile or so from the interstate and was recommended to us by Coastal Georgia RV Resort. We are paying $80 per month and it beats towing back and forth on I-77 from/to West Virginia. There are other storage sites along the way so a good web search should pay off.

Best of luck in your search.
  • Not sure how far south you want to go, but a friend kept his at a place 5 minutes off I-95 Exit 97 near Smithfield, NC. Covered spots at a carpet dealer called Handy Dan's. Can't vouch for price, security, or much else other than it's there and people store RVs and boats there.
  • Appreciate the response.... I guess the reason I am seeking suggestions from fellow rver's is that I found so many storage places on the internet in places like Georgia etc. but have no clue as to whether they are legit! I thought maybe somebody out there had some past experience with one or two places and could pass on some info...thanks again
  • just pick a spot and do it on craigslist.
