I have heard opinions that ALL 5th wheel tires are made in China regardless of the brand name on them. Does anyone out there know for a fact ( no guesses or opinions please) if this is true? If there are any brands that are not please tell me what they are. Muchas gracias.

You can find LT tires all over that are made in the USA. OF course that generally applies to 16 inch sizes. If you have 15 inch wheels your choices are very limited.

Goodyear does make some tires in the US. But be aware that Goodyear Marathon tires sometimes found on 5ers are made in China. And they have been the target of frequent complaints of blowouts.

Ehow might be ready for an update, since in February this year Michelin opened a 1.5 billion dollar factory in China, which factory is Michelin's biggest anywhere in the world.Per their production of RV tires:Michelin's page that includes "plants by tire type" link doesn't say where RV tires are produced.To O.P.:By "China", do you mean that country, or all/any Asian country? I ask because tires are produced in other countries over there, too.

News Flash!!!

Maxxis is not made in China.

Maxxis ST tires are produced in Thailand and many of us have found good success with them. My last set lasted 6+ years.

Goodyear considers all plants equal and does a run of ST tires in many different plants from time to time based on availability of plant capacity for the run.

I am surprised no one mentioned the Goodyear G614 size 235/85R16. They are a G rated tire and are manufactured here in the States.

True and False! I hadn't realized that while Maxxis is a Chinese (Taiwan) company and many Maxxis's tires are made in China, their ST tires are indeed made in Thailand.

I originally changed out my China bombs for BFG Commercial TA's. BFG is owned by Michelin. They have a good 16" LT tire with a steel sidewall. If you wish Michelin XPS are in a size that you can use on your 5er. That is what I have now. They had a recall on the BFG and then replaced them with the XPS mounted and balanced no charge.

I had a set of Towmasters on my fiver when I bought it that were made in Indonesia. I replaced them with Maxxis made in Thailand.

Closest would be the LT235/85R16 which is 1" taller than the ST235/80R16. I don't think it will fit as clearance is tight. The 2013 version of my trailer had under rated 15" rims on it. For 2014 they wisely changed to 16" but did not change fender skirts etc. I'm leaning towards going with Maxxis M8008's but still looking.

LT245/75/R16 is just about a quarter inch shorter and less than a half inch wider and should fit without any problems.
