My 14000 pound GVWR Bighorn came standard with 6000 pound axles. So two of them can support 12,000 pounds. Figuring 20 percent pin weight leaves 11,200 on the axles. What ? Me worry ?
I checked the box to get 7000 axles for very little more money.
This is an example of why I recommend that folks ORDER a new trailer as opposed to taking one off the dealer's lot. Read the options list. Dealers want to advertise low prices so they order trailers with only the popular options. Upgraded high capacity axles is probably not considered to be a 'popular' option.
