We have taken our HD receiver from our master bedroom for years when we were using Directv, now with Dish we purchased separate (VIP) receivers that were intended for RV usage, in either event we added receivers to our home account for use in our rig.
We have been back and forth with both satellite tv providers over the many years to take advantage of promotional pricing, we would purchase the same satellite antenna installed at our home and mount on a tripod for use when RVing.
If you require local channels it is somewhat more difficult with Directv, didn't matter much to us as we could usually get some locals OTA. With Dish Network it is simple to get locals and or major networks, we use their online chat function on our smartphones to inform them of our new location.
There are many online retailers where you could get complete kits or whatever to get you going, we used a home-made stand for years before purchasing our tripod. We've been doing it for decades and it takes just a few minutes to have every channel we have at home using just a compass.
Definitely practice at home first to ensure sat equipment is functional and your rig readily passes satellite signal to your sat receiver inside your RV. Viewing how your home sat antenna is pointed will help get you started, with a bit of practice it becomes quite easy.
