R12RTee,
I'm jealous, I'd love to have a lift like yours on our Suites but I can only imagine what kind of fabrication would need to take place to install something like that on our trailer! Looks really good. I'll bet you get a LOT of looks!
We have the stock frame offered by DRV, you knew going into your deal you were having the lift put on. Smart, very smart. :W
Thanks for sharing the info on your rig, I saw it once before on here and have always wondered about your setup.

You could have steel plates welded along the sides of your frame to get additional strength. Do you have the 2" tube that DRV uses to lift the camper for tall trucks? That would give a lot of strength to the frame also. The problem with using two axles is the overhang to the rear bumper area. Hydralift calls for less than 10 feet and a third axle gives me that. I was able to buy the fender flares from DRV since they do make triple axle trailers but I have to admit the shipping charges for them surprised me. Moving the two rear jacks to make room for the axle was not a problem and they work fine.
No, I DON'T, ...just darn it. :M When we ordered our trailer I wasn't aware of the 2" riser option. We had an '06 RAM then so they weren't on my radar screen, now, however I have a '15 RAM and I REALLY wish I had the risers.
Never gave welding plates to the sides of the frame a thought but then I'd have to do what you did and add an extra axle. There would be no way with just two axles!
After reading your post from above I hadn't even considered slide out problems with a lighter frame. :E
We're renting a motorcycle trailer next month to haul our Wing to a favorite spot in western Wisconsin for our annual "fall color ride". I want to see how that works out before we even consider owning a trailer. Not sure how much of a PITA it's going to be dealing with hooking and unhooking and stashing the "little" trailer. (fingers crossed)
