Unbelievable that this conversation continues between Anderson / B&W fanatics.
FWIW - the Anderson is a great hitch, with the huge advantage of being able to remove from truck in 5 mins. flat.
FWIW - the B&W is a great hitch, with the disadvantage of being a BEAR to remove if need be (personally, my hitch has not left my truck in 5 years)
FWIW - One argument that continually comes up AGAINST the Anderson is the Un-ability to lock the hitch. What is only posted periodically by the individual that brings this up every time has about 6 padlocks on his B&W so obviously he may be a little over-sensitive in the security department. I personally have ZERO locks on my hitch, or bikes, kayaks, BBQ, etc. but perhaps we camp in different areas.
In my opinion you cannot go wrong with either the Anderson or the B&W. Each 'owner' will tell you his is better than the other and quote a hundred reasons why.
Now back to the usual bashing..... :)
I agree, there is no doubt the B&W is a great hitch. No argument there, unfortunately for whatever reasons, we get the distorted facts about the Andersen, apparently its important to some to talk down a product to bolster their choice.
I could care less what hitch ,truck, fifth wheel etc etc etc what people own. I do care ABOUT the FACTS , and that they are reported accurately.
I believe one mentioned their concern for getting aligned to hitch up with the Andersen. I for one always wanted to be lined up perfectly side to side backing into a conventional fifth wheel hitch , so not to put anymore strain then necessary on truck or the fifth wheel. Never liked the idea of letting the king pin find the center. With this Andersen I don't have that red line-up cone, for the same reason ,I don't want that ball to find center, so I line-up side to side as close as possible. Sometimes I am right on front to back ,sometimes not. If I am not I move the truck, so I pretty much drop straight down on the ball. If getting lined-up is an issue for someone ,then they better just get a conventional fifth wheel hitch, get somewhat close ,and force the kingpin into the hitch.
