scissor jacks

Our 5er came with 2 capacity c series jacks on rear. Are these better than the scissor jacks
I also would like to add 2 more jacks just in front of tires. Would scissors work ok there

Rather than adding additional jacks to improve stabilization I would suggest JT Strongarms. Worth thier weight in gold.

I have heard nothing but good things about those JT Strongarms. They say with those and the scissor things that go in between the wheels (I forgot what the brand name is) is the ideal setup.

    X3!!
I installed a set as we would get a a good deal of wiggle, even with a pin box tripod. We now no longer use the tripod!! 32' 5er is solid as a rock!!

We got a great deal on the JT Strong arms through CW internet sale at $184!!

With a quick search I found the best current sale price at PPL Motorhomes! about $220.

Wife after chemo needs a little more help. I might not be putting my rear jacks down hard eneough
    Thanks

Go over the setting instructions, If I remember correctly, set rear with nose slightly low lock rear, then lock all of the front, and raise about another 1/4" to 1/2", puts arms under pressure and tension.
  • Anyone with have or had a higher end 5th with auto-level? If so, does that lift enough weight off the trailer axles to result in a more stable 5th?? I've often thought about doing what the OP is considering but am afraid without taking the weight off the tires its still going to bounce a lot.
  • We had a '11 Montana with the "standard" jacks at the rear and now we have a MS with the level up. The level definately provides better support but it doesn't take all of the bounce out. With the Montana we used to do what Barney does, I made up a couple of tripods to go right behind the rear wheels, on the frame rails, it improved our "bounce" significantly.

What has us spoiled more than anything else with the level up system is not having to carry boards or blocks along to get the side to side level. Just push the "auto level" button and watch it do it's thing. :B

  • We had stabilizers on our Carriage for years then added the Big Foot Leveling System in 2010. We set up without tightening our stabilizers and while the levelers did help, it was not enough for me so we tightened our stabilizers and we were back to being nice and solid again. For us, using both was the way to go, Hugs, Di
