Making the switch from bumper pull to fifth wheel. Purchased 2013 Ram SBT 2500 Diesel. Plan on purchasing a Crusader 295. I do not have a hitch at this time, and I am concerned about bed clearance. I am considering the B&W Companion. I would greatly appreciate suggestions and discussion on this combination.

B&W make great products and is a great company to deal with. They have several different configurations, so pick the one best for you.

  • Had the B&W Like that Hitch better than the Pullrite I have now. Also it's a slider for the short bed. Have yet to use the slider.
  • Assume "SBT" - means - *Short Bed Truck* ?
(Abbreviation for Short Bed or Long bed is *usually* just "SB" or "LB")

Lots of folks (here) with Short Bed tow vehicles....maybe somebody with the hitch and/or "combo" you are considering will chime in.

  • Most pins and hitches can be adjusted to give you the 6" you need. Also you want your trailer to be as level as you can when you are hooked up to your truck.
  • You should have no problems. Assuming that 5ver is fairly new anyway. Some really old fifth wheels may have a clearance problem. The B&W is a great hitch too.
