Secret to keeping the Refrigerator Closed

We have a brand new Columbus fifth, it has a Residential refrigerator. Double doors on top of freezer. We strap the double doors close to the freezer handle. It has slide out shelves so we zipped tied all the shelves, which were pushing the doors open. We still have issues with the doors opening a little to set off the beeper warning doors are open. Anyone else have this problem?

  • On our Maytag I have used a bungee cord wrapped around the handles 3 times.
On our first outing I lost a gallon of milk and has not opened since.
Winnebago does have drawer latches mounted on the top of both doors.
  • We had the same problem with our boat when we lived aboard. Used Velcro (self stick) straps from the top of the fridge attached to tabs on the door. It was just enough to hold it shut along with the other measures we'd taken to keep the stuff inside from hitting the doors.
