I don't mean to be such a downer, but let's be realistic about it. 5th wheel hitch theft has to be low return for the amount of effort involved, so they aren't going to be casual lift-and-run thieves.
I'll leave mine unlocked, unchained, and covered by my insurance. :)
To remove my hitch without locks is as simple as pulling 4 pins and turning 4 handles and the whole $1,159 hitch is gone without making any noise and very little effort. Then there is the $500 deductible so then I have to come up with $659 for a new one plus I now have a ding on my insurance. So yea a few bucks in padlocks is well worth it to ME!
