We started with a 22' toy hauler that had 16' of shared/open garage space. this gave us the most garage in the smallest package, but required us to sleep on the slide next to the toys because the front of the hauler was the bath and the drop down beds were blocked by toys. Some of our trips require multiple travel days to get to our destination, this was inconvenient to sleep next to our toys or unload them at night.
When we outgrew our garage space, we looked for front sleepers with 18' or more of shared/open garage and at car haulers with LQ's. Few toy haulers had sufficient garage and the car haulers started getting too long for the places we like to visit.
We decided to go with a truck camper and an enclosed trailer. Now we tow our garage when we need it and we always have dedicated living space regardless if or what we tow. This has worked well us and our next step will be upsizing the truck camper so it has a side door and dry bath in few years.
