In your situation, there's no real way to separate it, IMO. IF you could get the FW loose from the truck, you'd likely end up dropping it on the truck bed, then having to drag it back, likely bending the legs to the point where the FW would drop completely to the ground. Yes, might stop it from burning up and losing property, but it would likely end up being totaled anyway. That, and the risk in trying to unhook it wouldn't be worth it. Now, if the fire had started in the FW, I'd simply unlatch the hitch and blast forward and hell with the truck bed and tailgate; that's cheap to fix.
