Ya'll make me feel better that we did the right thing. I wanted to confirm I didn't miss something obvious. When seconds were ticking away and the blaze was growing, the only thing I could think of was making sure my wife and dog were safe and that 911 had been called.
It took a good 15 minutes or more for the FD to arrive and battle the blaze. The hardest part was watching my wife sob while our retirement dream went up in smoke.
We're doing much better now. We've replaced the truck and we have a plan on the RV. We've replaced many of our personal effects such as clothing. We'll have to see what the insurance settlement is before selecting a new RV.
