I think you should stay with the tires you have. Having said that, I always have a problem with college trained OEM engineers who aren't bright enough to not do stupid things like engineering engines with horizontal oil filter drain right over the top of the exhaust pipe - they may have a degree, but they don't have any applicable experience to apply it.
