Sewer Flush ??

Just bought first fifth wheel, Just above the purge valves there's an inlet valve for a hose(threaded) that says "sewer flush". Am I correct in assuming that I should hook a hose there when dumping black/grey water? I'm guessing that running water thru there will clean out the holding tanks. THANKS

Not as long as the vent is not clogged....
  • There will be no build up of pressure because the black tank has a vent. As stated earlier, there is a chance it gets overfilled and it will overflow from the toilet.

  • That inlet will only flush out the BLACK tank...I drain my BLACK tank all the way then hook up the flush and with the valve still open I let it run for a few minutes. At that point I close the valve for a minute or 2 and stand there (like already posted) to allow the black tank to fill up a bit. At this point I open the valve again and let it drain down ,after turning off the hose I allow a few minutes for all the water to drain , close the black valve and then open the GREY valve and let her rip ! This will flush out all the black tank stuff from the hose..And by the way , dont forget to winterize that inlet or you could have an issue in the spring ! Joe

    I don't see why that's a problem.
  • I turn on the hose to help flush the black tank while draining it. After it is all drained, I then close the black tank valve and let the flush hose run for a couple of minutes and then open the valve again. This help clean any sewer matter at the bottom of the tank. DO NOT turn the flush hose on while the black tank valve is closed and walk off to do another job!!!!! or you could potentially end up with an overflowing toilet:(:(:(:(
  • AND MY INSTRUCTIONS SAY NOT TO TURN HOSE TO THIS FITTING ON UNLESS THE SEWER IS OPEN
  • And don't use your drinking water hose to do the flush. Carry a hose of a different color to use.
  • it probably is in your black tank only, not grey. I primarily used mine to help flush out the last 1/4 or so of the black tank, moves the "stuff" over and down the outlet.
