Short high line fifth wheel?

Thanks all for the input. I currently tow a (nominal) 36' Mobile Suite,my 3rd 36' fiver. Im just wanting to downsize,having gone from fulltimer to "seasonal full timer". I will check into Artic Fox by all means and "refurbished Hitchhikers" is interesting----I had a HH on order when NuWay closed the doors. Thanks for the leads!

Got me looking at the Artic Fox. The 32 does not look bad. The lower portion floorplan is somewhat similar to our Alpenlite 34RLR however the freshwater capacity is smaller, the galley is much smaller with the sink not having much counter either side at all compared to the Alpenlite.

The entertainment area is located the same with the TV at an angle so that it can be viewed easily almost wherever you are, even from the galley. Not many are located like this.

Surprised how light it is. Dry weight is over 2000# less than our Alpenlite.

Jbird, if you live in the Northwest, then check out an Arctic Fox or Glacier Peak. If you don't then also look at a Reflection by Grand Design. For shorter 5ers the Glacier Peak & Reflection about as high end as it gets. Both are nice.

The trailer in my profile is a high end unit that is 31' if you count the ladder. Carriage built them in 08 and 09 and the MSRP was in the $80-100k range. When conceived in 07 or earlier the country was refinancing their houses and buying toys and maybe the business case made sense. I presume the downturn in 08 is what killed the Domani but I have a hard time seeing them selling many now if still available. You can buy a lot more trailer for a lot less money. It is too bad as 31' is a nice size for two people that do not full time. Good luck with your search.

We have a Arctic Fox 27-5L and love it. Its about 29' 6" and 13' tall.

You can still get refurbished, like new, Hitchiker models, in the size you are looking for. Nuway, is now Kansas RV Center,(the company who built Hitchikers). They buy used Hitchiker trailers and totally rebuild them to like new condition. I am sure they can find whatever model you want, and rebuild it to like new for you. Plus, this will save you a lot of money over buying new.

My thoughts on this are that high end units are usually bought by people using them for extended stays, Most of those people IMO want something larger. For me anyway it would seem like a waste of money to spend $120,000 MSRP for use on weekends or maybe a couple week trips a year. Yes there are lots of people with money to burn, but it looks like not enough of them want a short high end unit.

Back when we bought our first 5th wheel in 1996, there were any number of short 5th wheels available - our first was a Jayco Designer 3030RKSS (nominal 30', but slightly longer).

The market has obviously changed. If short, high-line 5th wheels were in high demand, the manufacturers would still be building them. They're sorta like unicorns now - we hear about them but seldom see them.
