Just for reference...
My HITCH is installed 2" forward of centerline of rear axle.
Adds 150# to front axle when 5vr is hooked up
Length of pin box would have minimal affect if any on weight transfer to trucks front axle....hitch placement does
In your picture of pin box...
You have a bit of pin box that hangs below mounting structure.
Is that the part that is scraping tonneau cover rails??
That part and some of the mounting structure BELOW mounting holes/bolts COULD be cut off for relief W/O any loss of integrity to mount/pin box
Trailer leaf springs.....mounting holes..already in tallest setting??
That means in the 'bottom' hole?
I would concentrate on getting trailer level before changing out pin boxes etc
Springs in bottom hole of shackles
Springs mounted on top of axles
Subframe lift
And stay away from that 'shorter pin box'....no upside/all downside
Tailgate operation, turning radius, front compartment/front wall damage etc.
'Sidewinder/Revolution' pin box.....shifts pivot point from hith/king pin to rear of pin box.
Neat BUT you have very limited off angle to properly hitch and set wedge into hitch.
Not worth it too me
