If the 5er has an extended pin box and rounded corners it's possible, just be REALLY careful on sharp turns. My buddy had an '05 Chevy short bed with a PullRite sliding hitch and never once used the slider. He moved up to a '10 GMC short bed that had a B&W slider. On his first trip out he was making a sharp turn in a parking lot and BAM, busted out the back glass. In the course of normal driving there was no issue at all, but that really tight turn created the situation where he needed (and should have used) his slider.
