I have a 2001 Cedar Creek 34 footer and pull it with a 2005 Dodge Cummins/6 speed long bed 4WD and recently the main room slide would continue to try to close the slide after it was all the way in. The motor would stop and then start working for about 3 seconds and then stop and then do it again. When I got back from my trip to Utah, I noticed the kitchen slide was doing the same thing then the bedroom slide did it also. My question: Have you had any trouble with your slides? I have lubricated the slides and replaced the circuit breakers and topped off the oil reservoir with no change. I am thinking that the switch has some crud in it as when the slides start going in they don't stop when the rocker switch is released. Maybe I should blow it out with compressed air. Funny that there isn't any trouble when the slides are coming out. Hmmmm.Thanks in advance,

I assume you can still hear the pump on the slides even after you release the button. If so, I would replace the slide pump switch. The switch is too cheap and important to try and repair.I installed a battery cut off switch that I purchased cheap on Ebay. If I have any stuck switches or 12 volt electric problem, I can quickly cut all power.

Yeah, cut-off switch. Seems like everything stops when I release the switch when the slide is on the way out. Replacing the switch seems like too simple a fix but it's worth a try. I had thought of pulling the switch and "jumping" the circuit to see if I could bypass the switch and make it work. If the temp. is below 110 tomorrow I'll do it and keep you posted. My unit has a switch on the pump itself. If yours does too then try to use it and see if it does it.

This would tell you if it is the inside switch going bad. My landing gear switch is going bad and I have to wiggle it every once in a while to get the motor to take off.

If you can locate the relays just pull them and swap positions and see if the problem is still when coming in or maybe is while going out now.

Pull the relays off of the motor and go to a parts house and match them up. They will be a common relay. You have a relay sticking. If you want to just get the one that is sticking, pull one of them and see which function is still working. If the out is still working and the in is not then the relay in your hand is the in and the one on the pump is the out.

Monday has come and gone and I am no closer to solving my problem. Cedar Creek referred me to Lippert Industries and "Jeff" returned my call and was willing to walk me through a few tests I could do with my trusty test light. Unfortunately, we discovered that my mechanism was manufactured by POWER GEAR after I took some pictures of the motor and pump and e-mailed them to him. He gave me their number and they could not help me as they just deal in hydraulics. My next call was to Double Eagle RV and I am awaiting their call to make a reservation to take it in. Thanks for all of the input but maybe I will take one more look before I bite the bullet.

The Cedar Creek fellows are off until Monday so hopefully I'll get a call from them then. Wonder if I could follow the wires from the circuit breakers down to the inner depths of the rig. Life goes on. I still wouldn't know which relay was defective. There was a very good mobile RV guy here in Vegas but I guess it was hot enough here but he needed more humidity so he moved to Florida:-)

My 98 cardinal does the same thing and I tracked it down to one of the relays sticking.It seems to be worse after it has sat for a long time.There is a relay for going in and one for going out and they should be right behind the pump where the main cable hooks to the pump.

If it does the same thing using both inside and outside switched it has to be something else. Good luck getting a wiring schematic for a Cedar Creek. My owners manual sucks big time. My old Hornet had everything you could ever want to know about everything in the trailer.

I tried the inside switch and the same thing happens. Maybe it's not the switch? I need a schematic. Another try tomorrow to talk to a person at Cedar Creek.

It sounds like you are always using the switch in the side compartment where the switch for the landing gear is at. Have you tried the swith inside the trailer to see if you get the same results?

I am going to call "Mike" after he gets back from lunch and pick his brain. His direct number is 260-593-2326. The in/out rocker switch is mounted on a rather heavy duty piece of metal and it is almost impossible to get to the back side of it. I suppose it could be done but I recently had shoulder surgery and bending and twisting is not something easily done although I did replace the circuit breakers. I have a couple of camping buddies who can't wait to tear into stuff for me. Climbed up on the roof and mounted and wired my solar panels. Did I say good friends? If the switch has to be PRIED out from the front side, let me know or maybe Mike can help me. Thanks for Justin Day's number.
