Slides and Stabilizer Jacks

This is my first 5er and I was wondering if I should leave the slides out and the hydraulic leveling jacks down while it sits in my back yard or if I should pull in the slides and bring up the jacks. My backyard is not too level so if I do bring up the jacks she will tilt quite a bit. I would imagine it would be better to stow everything but I was curious what the benefits/drawbacks are. Thanks.

  • Had a Mobile Suite for 9 years and now a Montana for 8 months. If stored outside I would still get level as possible(leaving refrig on) and keep slides in to protect the seals and slide roofs from long term sun.
  • Slides in..slides out. Only takes a push of a button.

Rig level.....if you are going to operate the fridge.

    Otherwise....doesn't matter

    different situations require different actions.
    bumpy
  • I put my stabilizers down and chock my wheels but you wouldnt have to, if you do I would spray with silicone to prevent rust

Are you storing it or using it?

Im not really storing since we try to use it once a month or so and lucky for me I can park it in my back yard. I plan to bring in the slides so I guess my real question relates to the hydraulic leveling jacks. Are there any issues I should be concerned with if I keep it leveled (using the jacks) or should I bring them up and have it sitting on the tires only.
  • The owners manual for our fifth wheel TH recommends you bring the slides in for storage.
  • What do full timers do? Not every full timer is in a full time trailer.
  • Mfg for my rig doesnt recomend storing with slides out, but if you do they say to spray hydro rams with silcone spray at least once every two weeks, more often if exposed to salt spray
