Small 5th wheel with king size bed?

We are in the market for a small 5th wheel but a king sized bed is a must. I am trying to find the manufacturers that have an optional king. Right now the only ones I am aware of are the Keystone Montana and the Highland Ridge Open Range 3x 309. The first might be a tad heavier than I am looking for and the second is gorgeous but way over budget right now. Any suggestions appreciated.
  • :h A 12,000lb fiver is not small and will have a pin weight of 2500lb. It sounds like you are trying to put 10lb of potatoes in a 5lb bag. There is no way I could get a king size mattress in our 25', the queen was a struggle.
  • There are a rare few 28 ft plus that have an optional king. On most units it wouldn't be possible to just swap a king for a queen because the slideouts are the exact width of a queen. I am just hoping someone has names other than the few I have collected. The 30 ft Highland Ridge 3X is fairly new - either 2016 or 2015 - so the used market is still very limited. But I have time.
  • King size a `must'? We have twin beds which allow each of us room to move around without affecting the other.
  • Ours has a King Size bed (which is an option) on the Columbus 295RL. Our unloaded weight per the yellow sticker is about 10,650. Loaded we are a little over 12K lbs (12,500 max). The GVWR is almost 14K, but ours has 3,400 CCC and we are not full timers and not nearly that heavy. The unloaded pin weight is about 2,100 Lbs. Our loaded pin weight is about 2,600 lbs or so. We have a 2016 Ram 2500 with 6.4 hemi and 4.10 rear axle with a rear axle weight rating of 6,500 lbs. We are about 500 lbs UNDER the RAWR. With the optional front air it's 13'3" tall. Our 2014 is actually about 34"8" long. We really like it. It's the smallest fiver I found a King Size bed in (and I really like that at 6'3'). Here is a link.

  • Our 2016 Montana came with a king in it. What a PIA trying to make the bed was. Threw that away and bought a queen foam bed, love it.

Yes ! Foam mattress best thing I ever did.
  • Thank you for all the input. We ended up buying a used Heartland Silverado 32TS. Our truck pulls it easily, the bed is awesome, and our first week on the road was truly fun. Leaving again for 2 months in a couple of weeks. I couldn't be happier.
