Not a fan of the Smart Car myself. Not high enough mpg for the cost and cramped size. Too many other cars that get decent mpg and much more room.
In Canada you can find the diesel models. VERY decent fuel mileage.
They have the diesel versiion in Canada. I do not think you can bring them to the States.
There are a fair amount making it in to the US. There is quite often one on ebay and some are already titled in the US. The only down side is if you have a problem the parts and expertise are coming from Canada or europe. - shum02Explorer

I believe that if you wanted to make the trek North, buy one and bring it back you could but I'm not 100% certain on that. Could I drive one to the U.S? Yes. - ventrmanExplorer

Why is it folks can't stay on topic here? No one asked how you feel about Smart cars safety or your opinion's of them. This was just about what the OP saw, period.
Good morning Bird. Yah I know, and I'm bad for it as well. But I think in general these kinds of forums tend to be huge cross sections of different cultures and nationalities and with that comes conversation and discussion and as we all know that always strays and leads to other interesting topcis. Its all good. I hear ya though. - Bird_FreakExplorer IIWhy is it folks can't stay on topic here? No one asked how you feel about Smart cars safety or your opinion's of them. Whatever you save in fuel dollars you will spend in medical bills or funeral costs.
Regarding med costs........I live in Canada, regarding funeral costs........I have insurance. I'm guessing you don't drive motorcycles, ride a bike or walk either?
Well, there ya go. Makes perfect sense. - shum02Explorer

Oh, he's hiding under his bed with the rest of the worry warts. LOL
As Jimnlin points out the hot shotter owners laugh at the things that get posted here. He says they copy/paste or link to our "weight police worry wart posts. - FlatBrokeExplorer IIAll we are missing on this post is the guy that comes on here and says "I sure hope he announces his travel plans before he hits the road in that"
