Smell Gasoline In My Toy Hauler

Not normal, especially if its giving you a headache. Did you try loosening the gas cap? If there's pressure in the tank it might be forcing the fumes out. Not sure but I think the tanks are vented, unlike cars now. Check where the vent hose goes.

No, it is not normal. With gas tanks for toys and generator mounted under garage maybe there is some kind of venting issue or miniscule leak. Our TH is going on its 8th camping season this upcoming Spring and we have never noticed any gas fumes even when toys are in garage. It sounds like it needs to go back to dealer or have a reputable mobile RV service tech inspect fuel tanks and fuel delivery system for toys and generator for probable causes. If you have a generator or fueling station, you may have a leak in a line or fitting. As others have posted, you should not be smelling gasoline fumes.

I'm not sure on your specific unit. As mentioned release the gas cap first of all.

Now locate the tank itself, it should be very close to the filler neck on the outside.

How much of the tank can you see? Or can you see it at all?

If there is a corrugated plastic barrier I would ask did the inspector drop that barrier and inspect inside? This requires them to cut or drop the barrier itself and then reattach, if the tank is enclosed.

Each gas tank has a vent. So either the vent isn't venting properly or there is a leak. You should have no gas smell in your RV. If you are still getting the smell after the onsite inspection I'd get it into the dealer so they can drop the tank and do a proper inspection.

No.... that's not normal. That's very serious take it back! Keep us informed on what they find.

Dumb question: Have you loaded any toys in it yet?

Assuming the answer is No and that a leaky bike isn't the source, you should be able to inspect the tank, the filler line, the vent(s), the filling station, and the fuel line from the tank to the generator to find the source of the fumes.

Is there a time when the smell is strongest? (After towing, afternoon, etc.)

This definitely isn't normal though. Hopefully you isolate the source and get them to fix it soon.

I have no toy with gas inside...I use the garage as an art studio...but all the art chemicals are sealed as the fumes mixed with art supplies (oil paints) would make for a serious combustion possibility so I'm not painting at the moment.

The dealership (Crestview) was supposed to send someone out today to look at it. They said they will by end of day. Obviously they don't care if we explode here. I don't currently have a truck that will pull this rig yet (am working on that) so I need to have them pull it back in. I had an RV tech out Saturday who didn't look very closely and said he found nothing. Based on what you're telling me, I'm going to insist that they take the rig back in to inspect it.

How is the sun shining on the tank? Isn't the tank mounted underneath, between the frame rails, out of view?
