Smokin' Deal on Ricksons

I wasn't in the market for them but the price was too good to pass up. 2 year old Rickson steel 19.5 rims with g rated 245 tires. 10k miles on them... drum roll please... $575 total! Only problem is that they are red powdercoated.

    sounds good!

How about the height difference between the tires you have now, vs whatever 19.5 tires you plan on using?

The new tires are 33" diameter versus stock of 31.6". I have a 2 wheel drive without a leveling kit but everything I have found online seems to suggest they will fit without rubbing. Tires are these Hercules Link. The gentleman selling the wheels stated that they tend to follow the groves in the roadway a bit so we will see.

The new rig we bought has a GVWR 1000 lbs greater than our previous rig. It puts the truck right at its max weights so I like these tires to give me a cushion on the rears for the extra pin weight. Plus the stiffer sidewall should provide additional support. This truck is a great tow vehicle and handled our previous rig with no problems.

I am thinking of powder coating them a silver, like the truck, and pairing it with chrome hub covers.
  • They should be roughly the same height as they are a "low profile" type tire I believe. But he can add bigger brakes :B
IIRC Frank had Brigestone tires, but I could be wrong. Lots of 19.5's in the market place.

BTW - (trivia) our former Mod, "Sir Francis Drake" (RIP, Frank) had Ricksons on his truck, but had a slide-in camper.
Never thought to ask him what tires he had on it.....maybe an old post in the archives?

  • Great price. That will really up your payload :B
Now if your truck is blue just add a white pin strip or two and you'll look like the American flag rolling down the road.
  • Are these for the truck or the trailer? How many did you buy? Not such a great deal if you only got 1. :)

If you don't like the red, it's not that big of a deal to have them blasted down to metal. Powdercoat is a little tougher than paint, but not that bad.
