Smoky Mountains question

Hello all, I just purchased my first 5th wheel. it's a 2006 Keystone Cougar bunkhouse. I want to go to the Smokey Mountains, but not real sure how my truck will do for that trip. I have a dodge 2500 with the 5.7 Hemi. I would take the I40 route through the mountains and jump off to go to Cherokee. What do u all think? or do I need to wait until I get a Diesel truck?

  • Very doable. Some tight manuvering but not a real problem. Go slow and pay attention to your driving.
  • Just hit the road, you'll be fine.

I dont get it on these RV boards which is the only place you see these types of questions. I guess I can see it if you lived in the flatlands youre entire life. Those of us that live in the areas questioned never give it a thought.
  • Hard to say without knowing the details of the trailer.

Assuming you are within weight limits and the truck is in good mechanical shape, shouldn't be a problem. If decide to tow thru the park from Cherokee to Gatlingburg, it might be a slow trip but very doable.
