I shoveled mine off last year, it was not fun as it was a warm day and it was wet heavy snow. I did end up breaking a couple of the vent covers.
I think the car wash idea is a good one or else maybe just keep it cleared off all the time so that it doesn't build up, I think that's what I'm going to do this year.
