SofaBed Mattress is Horrible

We also put a sheet of plywood under the mattress and memory foam on top. It worked well.

Exactly, threw ours in the trash, put in a regular love seat and invite guests to sleep on an air mattress , or the best option go to a motel.

That's a similar route to what we did.

I read that some were replacing hidea bed with futons. We dumped the hide a bed and got 2 lazy boys as there are just the 2 of us, but with the grand childern coming of age I may try the futons route.

Our sofa does not have a hide-a-bed but instead it all folds out and with the back cushions used as part of the matress, it makes a queen size bed. My son and daughter-in-law slept on it and stated the only problem was where the back cushions go makes a slight hump. They said although it was not terribly uncomfortable, they felt like they were sleeping on their head the first night. The second night, we folded up a blanket across where the head should be to elevate it slightly and I went to Walmart and purchased a 2" memory foam queen topper. They said it slept great that night. When packing up, I discovered that the memory foam would not fit in the storage under the couch easily because those darn things are contrary. We folded it over and the rolled it short end to short end. Then used a bungie cord around both ends to hold it in place...it now fits nicely in the storage under couch and is ready for the guest when needed. If you don't have storage under your couch with your hide-a-bed and if your couch won't fold up with the topper in place, perhaps you could store it under the master bed to keep it out of the way when not in use.

We replaced ours with a Lazy-Boy sofa bed. Our original sofa bed had a twin bed in it and we wanted a full bed. Probably a more costly fix then you are looking for.

Some folks put an air mattress on top of the existing mattress. Makes for a pretty high bed though.

Replaced with a Lazy-Boy Diana Supreme Comfort Full Sleeper Style number 500. Just fit in the door going in vertical. We took out the old sofa and the delivery folks put the new one in the RV. The back came off on the original sofa but does not on the Lazy-Boy. Our 6' 2" - 210 lb grandson said it is much more comfortable than the old one sofa bed.







We lost about 4 inches between the dinette chairs and the sofa. We switch the location of the sofa and recliner chairs when we get to out camping location (use nylon gliders so the moving is easy). We put a mattress pad on the new one too - it adds a little more cushion.

We used the topper on top of the existing mattress. A memory foam mattress would be too thick. We sleep on a full mem. foam mattress at home and love it.
