I kind of like the idea, but not fond of the fact that anything that's on the topper gets run in with the slide. Conceivably a branch could be rolled off a conventional slide topper, but could get run in with the slide and maybe damage the slide seal or the slide topper itself.
To avoid issues like that you'd have to clean the toppers off before bringing in the slide. IMO that kind of defeats part of the purpose of the toppers.
