We are sooooooooo disappointed!!! We thought that we had found THE ONE!!!! So we dashed out to today to look at at it, only to find that the 2009 model smelled very moldy.We saw no signs of leakage anywhere!! Upon closer inspection, I saw that one of the dual pane windows...the seal had broken and it was frosty looking and looked like something had come out of it and the sills looked like it had little bits of dried mold. I looked at the other windows and the same thing. I was told that it sat for 2 years and the owner had not used it. So, I would guess that condensation has caused this situation.I have a sensitivity to mold (I have been ill for quite some time due to mold issues and am being treated for it, so I can't take a chance in staying in anything even slightly musty). I was beginning to feel ill in there and had to walk out. The salesman said that they will clean the sills, run an ozone generator in there, and steam clean the carpet to see if the odor will go away and stay away.I am really wary of this...I believe that the mold spores are airborne and has gone into the ducts, the A/C, the fabrics, window treatments, etc. I seriously doubt that they can get rid of all the mold spores that have been created by the trailer just sitting there, neglected, for two years or more. I would imagine that it would take mold remediation specialists to do a thorough job.Has anyone had experience with this sort of thing?

In most any Rv mold =wood rot = repairs that exceed the worth of the unit. As said run.

Run... don't look back. Don't waste your time. You are already prone to be sick from mold... RUN.any rv you get is going to have some mold issue at some point.Once you get a GOOD mold free RV... to keep it from having an issue (other than making sure the roof is maintained)...1. A GOOD air cleaner/purifier. Run it all the time.2. You can combat mold with specific essential oils for mold and a diffuser to put it into the air. Research it.

If you already know you are more sensitive than others to mold, why would you even ask?

Soooooo disappointed! Can moldy smell be removed?

Not saying there is no problem but if it has had no leaks than most of what you were smelling is a rv that has been closed up to long and the musty/moldy smells have gotten strong, does not mean there is any health issues, it can be aired out and deep cleaned and I bet it will be fine, as long as you see no black mold than there probably is not.

A basket full of moth balls does good.

BTW - on edit, "janegowest" - from "anwhere"......
Mold can be found anywhere, but some parts of the country are less prone than others due to low or almost no humidity.

Jane - try looking (go) for RVs in the West - like (dry) So.CA, and/or areas of AZ & NV - - unless *anywhere* is "toofar" to the East or South.

It's not just that. There will be hidden rot in the trailer walls/roof/floor, depending on where the problem is. As others have said, it is not just skin-deep. BTDT!!!!

I had a travel trailer that accumulated water leakage throughout a few years. I knew it was leaking but not how much. Regardless the "mold" smell didn't start to smell until well into the 3-4th year of leaking. So that tells me there is some serious water/rot somewhere on that rig. Don't even think of buying it.

Ozone generators can work wonders, but I would let this one be someone else's problem.

It took us several months to find our first used fiver. We finally found it on Craig's list in another state. But we were glad we waited and expanded our search because we got a extremely well cared for unit.

Don't fall in love with these RVs. Don't buy one you know has problems. There are thousands of RVs for sale. Be patient and search further from your home base.
