SOS Towing question

SOS SOS SOS... Need some quick advice, and thank you ahead of time. I am purchasing a new 2014 5th, Keystone Avalanche model 355rk 3slides. anyone own one of these? here are some specs I have for it. I own a 2001 Ford F250 4dr. Diesel 7.3 long bed. I have a BANKS Stinger Plus installed in it and a transcommand. I have an extra transmission cooler also. Will I be safe all the way around towing with my truck?

Shipping weight 11696
Carrying Cap 3304
Hitch 2865
Length 37' 11"
Height 12' 5"
Thank you all again
Rudy..

  • Looks to me like you are in the one ton dually with that unit, with pin weight, hitch, and family. You can probably pull it but it will probably be pushing you around corners and not going to be fun to stop in an emergency like Allworh says.
  • I had a similar truck and a lighter RV and had issues with brakes failing and transmission overheating and blowing fluid out. I'm not sure if you have the E40D transmission or not, but if you do it is not as heavy duty as the newer transmissions.
  • I think you will be over your GVWR with around a 3000# hitch wt, plus 200#s for the hitch.

You may even be over RAWR, and tire rating. It will pull it, but don't know how far you can carry that much payload.

You'd better check tire rating first!

  • Trailer Life's website (www.trailerlife.com) shows a towing guide available for 2001. (Google it if you can't find it directly.)

14,900# seems like a lot for a 2001 no matter what aftermarket goodies you have. Could you stop that much in an emergency??
