I use a graphite spray paint called EZSlide, available at Tractor Supply. I can find it readily there, and it is cheaper than Slip-Plate. It has not been tested nor approved by Pullrite, but it has worked well for me for several years.
Slip Plate and EZSlide are spray paints with the "pigment" being graphite; it's used to lubricate and protect the rails on Pullrite Superglide hitches.
You could use it on a standard hitch in place of or in addition to a plastic disc, but it's not necessary in that application and it is somewhat messy to use.
