Spare stuff

I thought my water pump was going out, and after getting some good advice on the tech forum, I was able to get it working. In the meantime, since I was planning on going out again right away, I ordered a pump off Amazon. So now I have a new in box pump. Planning on doing more boondocking with the TH, think I should just toss it in the storage, even if I don't need it for a couple of years?

I am a terrible packrat....still have stuff in the garage at home from when I had a Jayco 32 BHS, and was camping with 4 grandkids.

That is sorta what I am thinking. I have fixed a lot of stuff over the years, and I can't think of anything that could not wait until I got home, except water.

My old (70's) trailers always had a little tap outside somewhere, gravity feed.

I had forgotten about that tap, so I am going to add that in my next project time.
  • If it breaks I will buy the part and fix it. If it isn't broken there is no need to carry the parts around.
  • Find a different use for it! Maybe a water transfer pump for an external water tank or something!
  • I have this philosophy.....

Regardless of ALL the spare parts I COULD carry around I will NOT have the one part that fails.

    So I don't carry spares...other then FUSES

    Same goes for tools.very basic.

I have a debit card and IF it gets hip deep then credit card
  • My thinking would be to replace the pump, sell the old one at a garage sale if it still works well.To be sure you never need another pump carry the new one with you.
  • ^^^That's the way I feel about it. You could pack enough stuff to rebuild 90 percent of your camper, but you still won't have the part to fix what breaks. :)
  • I'm in a different school of thinking.
I am not camping on the moon so most anything I need is available just down the road.

I don't carry enough spare parts to completely refit an aircraft carrier.
I try to avoid "weight bloat."...
