spare tire and bike rack

I just purchased a 2009 copper canyon and it has a spare tire in the back. I am looking to put a receiver hitch on so I can mount a bike rack. I am not sure if the bumper is strong enough to support the weight or is there a better option for carrying these items? Looking for comments

  • Back of a 5th wheel is not the best place to carry a bike!!! If you like your bikes and want to be sure they arrive with you!!!

Click "My Rig" in sig line.

  • I'm in the process of modifying my bike rack to fit on the pin box (hope to post pics soon). Too many horror stories about broken bike racks and destroyed bikes, (including my brothers). Lots of traditional bike rack warn not to put them behind fw / tt. If I did have to put them behind the fw, I would put them on a cargo rack, and install a back up camera to moniter them.
  • go to rvupgrades.com type in buyers travel trailer hitch.

Hope this helps oh it is under 200 bucks 189 I think
