Spare tire

Yup, i had to replace my stem recentley, big brand tires did it for free.

I prefer the high 100 psi high pressure rubber stems like the OEM stems on our 3/4 and one ton trucks.
With five trucks and 8 trailer on the road I had too many problems with broken metal stems. Moved all my equipment to high pressure rubber stoped that issue.
I use them on my rv trailers also.

You guys run rubber valve stems?

No way. I tell my tire place to always use steel.

I replaced tires on our hauler 6 months ago, kept the best old tire and had it mounted as the spare. New stems on all of them and balanced.

Once upon a time,

I had another hauler backed into the driveway close to the house. I heard a loud hissing noise coming from outside so I went to investigate it. Both stems on one side had rotted and let go, causing the hauler to lean onto the house I had seconds to move it and tow it a few miles on deflating tires to the tire store. Strange for sure.

This is what I found in my utility trailer that had been in storage for about 6 months.

I have gotten pretty OCD about checking tire pressure all the time too.

x3 on metal valve stems.

This is why I have a toy hauler. Generator and a compressor with a 100' hose.
Low/flat spare? No sweat.

I just replaced the valve stems in one of my off-road toys for the same reason. Don't always assume a slow leak is coming from the tire. My truck and trailers use metal valve stems for better reliability. My offroad toys usually go through tires faster than stems, but this set tires has worn better than some of my others.
