Spartan 1245

I'm fairly positive we're going to pull the trigger on a Spartan 1245 by Prime Time Manufacturing. I have a few immediate upgrades in mind (adding a 3rd A/C, slide toppers, and vent covers). But overall, it seems like a very livable unit.

Thoughts? Comments? Witty commentary?

Check out General RV, they have several on their website and all are discounted around $25k.

Thanks. They’re all 2017s and Momma wants an 18. :)

Be careful on Spartan. We were looking closely at them last year. But while shopping this year, our local dealer said they have stopped production. I'd be concerned about warranty work and parts if the dealer network goes away or factory parts aren't available. Granted, most parts are aftermarket, but it would be something I'd consider. Notice how you only see '17's and they are deeply discounted? Not saying I 100% wouldn't buy one, just be careful. I don't know what the Prime Time future holds. We really liked them, but once we looked at other brands, we chose a different one.

That's a good point. I swapped emails with a factory rep at Prime Time. He said that they don't expect to build any more Spartans until "Right now our best case scenario is production back up and running in Sept/Oct of 2018, but more than likely spring on 2019."

He did follow-on and say it was due to the factory being shared by 4 brands and they're hoping to build a new Spartan factory. (shrugs) It's hard to say how accurate that might be.

I have seen 18s but they're very limited. In fact, it's putting a bit of a rush on us to find one. :(

  • I found this on their site -

    Spartan Suspension Package - -

    “EZ Flex” Rubberized Suspension
    Heavy Duty Shock Absorbers
    Eight Point Greasable “Wet” Bolts
    Long Lasting Brass Bushings
    Long Lasting ½” Shackle Plates
    7,000 Pound Axles (Most Models)
    "EZ Lube" Axle Hubs
    16” Aluminum Wheels
    8-Lug Wheels
    Upgraded G-Rated Radial Tires

Not sure exactly what that means ?? I cannot imagine that it would have 5200# or even 6000# axles with 16" X 8 lug wheels.??

I looked at them online and they appeared to only have 6 lug wheels, 5200 lb or 6000 lb weight rating on the tri-axle models which indicated to me they were already underbuilt in my opinion. Typ of a lot of manufacturers is to just barely use enough to get by.

Do you happen to have a link?

I didn’t crawl underneath but this one is supposed to have 7,000 lbs axles and 8-lug wheels.

Looks good inside and out. Are the OME tires good?

Sailun S637, so we're good there. Plus it has shocks (presumably Lippert, but hey- some shocks are better than no shocks).
