- joebedfordNomad III agree that modern vehicles are much safer than the old junk we used to drive.
The drivers are NOT SAFER. - The_TexanExplorer

You basically called me a liar, so why should I respond to your accusations ???obgraham wrote:
I tow at 75mph here in AZ on the freeway.
I am alot more rock solid than alot of other folks around me.
I think I've heard this excuse for speeding before: "I know what I'm doing, not like the other guys on the road".
Well, I do know what I am doing.
But I can guarantee I have a much more rock solid setup than most......
And... my original questions haven't been answered, so my statement still stands. Can't just blame speed. - lincsterExplorer

Or up it to 85 mph, that way more people will be doing the speed limit. :)
I've read some studies that say people will drive at their comfortable speed, regardless of what is posted. On wide open highways/interstates 65 mph is totally unrealistic and silly. Drivers are on the interstate to get somewhere, not to sightsee. Let them get there and get off the road so I don't have to deal with them. :)
I agree with this.
Like it or not, modern vehicles have made it sooooo easy to do 80mph+.
If you aren't paying attention, you look down and you are doing 90 and it doesn't even feel like it.
Newer cars are quiet, smooth and the acceleration from turbo'd motors is crazy.
More and more cars are coming stock with turbo's. I know this is to help fuel economy, but a turbo increases acceleration alot.
Look at some of these factory cars coming with 600-800HP in a 3500lb car. This a basically a factory race car.
Government will step in at some point in the near future and stop auto makers from increasing HP all the time... just watch. - lincsterExplorer

OP..........were you also towing?
X2, just curious.
Answered previously, when first asked - joebedfordNomad IIOn divided highways, I tow at 105km/h (about 65mph). It is the lowest speed my truck will lock up in top gear and hold speed with cruise control. Cars go by a lot faster but it seems to be the average speed for trucks.
Out west, the trucks do 80-85mph. I don't like the speed differential, but I don't feel safe going that fast. - kohaiExplorerWe have 80 mph zones in middle of nowhere Utah on straight roads. Most people go about 80-85 in those areas. It's rare to see someone at 90. (I'm talking cars, not towing.)

Arizona really needs to reduce their speed limits to 65. Too many people doing 85-95.
They need to do like in Pennsylvania. Set speed limit at 55mph that slows most down to 65 or 70mph.
Weather it be 55 65 or 75. There will always be clowns doing 85.
California has it wrong with 55 for towing and 65 70 for autos. A lot folks don't pay attention to how much slower a vehicle it tow is until it's to late.
