Steadyfast Install

Purchased a Steadyfast kit to put on my 5er which should be here next week. Just looking for feedback from those who have installed if there are any gotchas to look out for? How are the install instructions? It looks pretty straightforward but just wanted to check with others.
  • Remember to lube the bit when you drill the hole and do not allow the bit to overheat.
  • I installed mine on our present 5er. Instructions are very readable. I pre-drilled and used a cordless impact driver. As far as I'm concerned, the impact driver was a godsend. No issues with installation.
  • The directions are very detailed with photos. I believe there are on-line, too, which will allow for you to look things over (if you have not already) before yours arrives.
This is our second box framed RV and we have installed the SteadyFast on both. We were so happy with the results of the system that we removed it from our 2011 and installed it on our 2014.
Telephone customer service is also available. Great product. You will be happy with it.

    You didn't do any pre-drill?
  • i did mine a few years back. i spent more time hunting up the tools to the job. used my redneck creeper to work under the camper. my biggest problem was the back side due to slide out bike rack. I had to have those two pieces welded on. that took me an extra week to get it to my welder and he have the time to work on it. took him like 15 minutes to do it. then we put the back side on in 10 minutes.

  • I put a complete set on a travel trailer and one bar on the rear of my fiver because it came with JT's on the front. (Was going with Steadyfast all the way around but Keystone offered the JT's with a package deal)Pretty strait forward install with most of the work coming from drilling the holes in the I beam. Just get the best bits for steel you can find.
