yep had that happen eons ago in AK with my then 77 4X4 Suburban.
The front diffy had an extension hose that was routed up in the frame work. Rear diffy had no extension on the breather. Needless to say, i extended the breather on the rear after i rebuilt because the butter in there did not lube too well. i really did not plan on the mud hole being that deep. :S
