Stolen truck update. 2nd Final update!

The truck was delivered to the Ford dealer on Monday afternoon. The Service manager and the insurance adjuster went over the truck together this afternoon. The only damage found so far was to the steering column and the drivers door lock.

They had a mechanic look over all the fluids, transfer case, transmission and running gear. Nothing out of the ordinary was found. I told them I insist on them doing a tranny service and a front end aliagnment. I may end up having to pay for these services myself but so be it. It will be for my peace of mind.

So if all goes well I should have the truck back in a couple of days. Just in time for our Branson trip.

Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement during this ordeal. My wife and I both felt so violated. Terrible feeling, hope none of you have to go throught this. Again Thanks, John

  • Great.

Let us know how the ole truck worked out on the road trip.

Here is hoping all will be like the old days.

Me I would take it for a short test run when hooked up before going for the long haul.
  • Glad things are looking up for you.

Hope all goes well and hope you can continue with your plans.

    Good luck and safe travels.
  • Glad to hear that..........

I would have ALL fluids changed...tranny, transfer, front/rear differentials
Even if I had to pay out of pocket.

No telling where they took that 4X4
  • Good things happen to good people. Enjoy your family vacation!

What about the 'big puddle of tranny fluid' when the tow driver unstuck it???

I asked about that and that's when they said they had checked all the fluids, which were all fine. That's when I insisted they do the tranny service. Fingers crossed.

Old Biscuit, I just went back and reread that old post. I think that maybe I put to much stock in what I was told. Quite possibly the tow truck operator didn't know how to get the transfer case out of 4low. As far as the tranny fluid on the ground, who knows how large of a puddle it actually was. I was only repeating what I had been told. And that is why I want them to do a tranny service. Better to be safe than sorry. Thanks.

  • Take a rear outside door handle and put it on the front door. It eliminates the keyhole and is a 100% cross over fit.
The keyhole is the weak point on gaining entry into your vehicle.
