Get a MorRyde cord reel. My kids got one for me as a father's day present several years back when we got our first rig with a 50Amp cord. Takes up next to no space, easily mounts in the basement, and is especially handy in colder weather when the cord is stiff. Best gift they ever bought for me. Yes, $9 for the large storage box, I don’t have a large basement. In addition we were four season campers and when cold the old cable was very stiff. Now it takes up much less space and is much easier to handle, even when freezing.

I had the same issue with my 36' 50amp power cord. I purchased a White Ventilated Wire Drawer made by Closet Maid at Home Depot. Size is 17" X 21" X 7" deep. Cost $20.45. Model #6209; SKU #101575. They call it a drawer because it's made to slide into a rack they sell also but it's a heavy duty wire basket type container and is very strong and works great to store this heavy power cord. It's wide enough to coil the cord in and deep enough to handle the long cord. It fits in the storage compartment very nicely.

rhagfo, The cord that came with my 5th wheel is a behemoth. Thing has to weigh 40 pounds and the cord itself is a good inch in diameter. It was cheaper buying a $9 storage box than a new cable. Also, like jshupe mentioned, they are stackable and I too have one for water hoses and 3 more that I keep at the house for various things.

Well if it was SOOW cable it would be much easier to handle and would still like all fit in a 3 gal. bucket! My hand in the picture is not to hold the cable down, but for scale as to the size of the container.

Excessive until you need it. I was at Ft Wilderness a couple of weeks ago and if my long 50amp cord wasn't with me I would have had to part way closer to the front of the site than the back giving me more room to park my truck, etc.

Where do I store my cord when traveling? In the back of my truck bed. The cord is the last thing I load and the first thing I unload, why spend a bunch of time finding a nice tidy hidy hole to stick it into. Will it walk off in the back of the truck? It hasn't yet.

I agree you may occasionally need a longer cord , but that is what extension cords are for. I don't need a 36' cord on a daily basis.
I don't need to wrestle with a 36' 50 amp cord when a 25' cor will do.
On the rare occurrence a longer cord is needed, I carry a 50 amp extension cord.

I use the exact same container - and since they stack, also have a few more of them. One for the water hose and associated fittings, one for septic and associated fittings, and one for "general site stuff" that includes junk we pull out every where we camp.

I have 2 -25ft 50 amp cords and 4 30 amp just keep them in a bucket
