I have experienced the same thing and I concluded it was coming from my black tank.
Not entirely sure how it filled the inside with the odor, but I figure when traveling perhaps the air turbulence caused the vapors from the black tank vent to enter the rear roof vent I leave open while traveling.
The smell would dissipate after a short time stopped.
