Fading is chronic problem in the boat industry and many use acrylic products to restore - Zep is an inexpensive acrylic floor polish that many RVers have used to made their faded rigs look new again. I don't have a brown cap like yours but I did have lots of Brown decals and Zep restored them. Worth a look - Zep is dirt cheap and if it doesn't work then you haven't lot much. Hope this helps.

Tried the Zep on mine. Looked good for a few months then it really went sour. Did all the prep work. It started to flake off after bieing in the sun a few months. Had a real mess to get off before I had it painted..
